Los Angeles attorney said he is planning to file a police brutality lawsuit in federal court this week against Fullerton officers in a new unrelated case. But one of the officers in that case was also involved in the Thomas arrest, said the attorney, Garo Mardirossian.

    Earlier in life, Simi Valley resident Sukhsagar Pannu was a star player for Hong Kong's national field hockey team. Today, the Indian-born Pannu, 54, is a partial quadriplegic because of a 2003 traffic collision on Highway 118. In that collision, his 1998 Land Rover Discovery sport utility vehicle rolled over several times, leaving him paralyzed. Read more

  • C.A. Upholds $20 Million Judgment in Vehicle Rollover - January 2011        
    The Court of Appeal for this district yesterday upheld a $20 million products liability judgment against Land Rover North America Inc. in favor of a Simi Valleyman rendered quadriplegic during a 2003 roll-over accident.
    Div. Seven said Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert H. O'Brien's finding of strict liability under the "risk-benefit" test was "amply supported" by evidence the Land Rover Discovery (Series 1) sport utility vehicle's design presented an excessive preventable danger to Sukhsagar Pannu.  Read more

    On December 14, 2003, at 10:23 a.m., Mr. Sukhsagar Pannu, then age 47, was a seat belted driver of his 1998 Land Rover Discovery I in the No. 2 westbound lane on the 118 Freeway. The driver side of Mr. Pannu's Land Rover was struck by an Acura driven by 16-year-old Bret Lusis, who encroached from the No. 1 westbound lane. Read more
