The Kelly Thomas Conspiracy

A 9-episode animated documentary series about the 2011 killing of Kelly Thomas — and the landmark lawsuit that followed.

About the Case

On July 5, 2011, Kelly Thomas, age 37, was beaten by six Fullerton Police Department officers outside the Fullerton Transportation Center. He never regained consciousness. Five days later, his family made the decision to switch off his life support.

The officers were acquitted at criminal trial. But Kelly’s father, Ron Thomas, refused to let it end there. He turned to Garo — by then an established Los Angeles civil rights attorney who had already taken on Fullerton PD — and together they pursued a civil case that ultimately settled for $4.9 million.

The Kelly Thomas Conspiracy is a 9-episode short-form documentary series telling the full story: the beating, the cover-up, the acquittal, and the civil case that delivered the only accountability Kelly’s family would ever see. Each episode is hand-drawn animation.

A brief description of your legal issue. Our firm handles serious personal injury cases arising from auto repair negligence. We do not handle cases involving only property damage or billing disputes with a repair shop. In California, those issues are often handled through small claims court or a complaint to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair, which oversees auto repair shops and consumer complaints.
